CHAPTER 10

By now, some of our readers are bound to be a little “put out” with us for speaking of the “godly” brethren like we have spoken. But no one should apologize for the truth when dealing with the authority of the “scripture of truth” (Dan. 10:21). I do not owe one of these “brethren” an apology for calling them anything if they told you they had “THE” Greek text or had compared any translation with “THE original.” If they did only those two things I owe them nothing but disrespect and contempt, and that is all YOU should “owe” them.

The reason that “good men” (and many of them are nice, good, polite, friendly, gracious, cooperative personalities) get sucked into the Laodicean apostasy and begin to recommend material that is obviously Satanic, is because their own educations prepared them for only one thing (saved or lost, Liberal or Fundamentalist): to USE a Book they did not believe was “the holy scriptures” (2 Tim. 3:15–16).

This hypocritical stance had been taken by hundreds of ministers before them (1700–1900). The approach of higher Christian education has always been that it is proper to BELIEVE some things taken out of the Book—the “fundamentals of the faith” for example, or “basic Christian principles” for example—but for “Satan’s sake” (Gen. 3:1) don’t believe the WORDS in the Book.

“The Book” is presented to all ministerial students in America as nothing but a useful tool for building their ministries. It is not to be taken seriously in every “jot” and “tittle” or even in every word or verse. Take what you like, what you understand, or what you can use and discard the rest.

Do you really think I told the truth just then? Well, if I didn’t, why were these six words omitted from the RV, RSV, NRSV, ASV, NASV, and NIV?

“But by EVERY WORD OF GOD” (Luke 4:4).

That was your Lord Jesus Christ (if you are saved) rebuking SATAN. Look at the passage if you don’t believe me.
